The party returned to Bellcea by train, quickly making their way to the Bureau headquarters. They were taken to a briefing room to wait for their caseworker to come and make sense of what had happened.
When Dessa entered the room, the party was sitting quietly, looking like they’d been through the wringer. Sitting down at the long table, she opened with a simple question.
“What happened?”
Reith did most of the talking, although Edward did jump in with incredibly unhelpful additions to the story. He told her of the situation in Istust, the hybrid experiments, the cannery and the manor, the breaking of the mind of Jones, and the destruction of the whole city after the showdown at the cathedral. Reith kept back details on the party’s interactions with Mantorok and the Bell in their possession, unsure if that information would help or hurt their standing with the Bureau. Dessa asked questions, took notes, and generally seemed disturbed by what had happened in Istust and how close the world may have come to ending.
After reviewing the events, Dessa thanked the group for their work in Instust and made an offer to join the Bureau as full agents. This would give full access to the Bureaus resources as well as constant work investigating other “situations”. The party agreed, with Reith making addtional agreements to share his notes on the constructs and crystal technology in exchange to basically unlimited access to any advancements made with that information.
The party was paid and released, free to try and make sense of the world as they saw it now.
